Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to work with other members of the EI&C team to deliver projects of varying complexity and size for  their clients. Working in a team environment, daily tasks will include the design of additions and modifications to power generation related electrical systems including: 

·        Medium Voltage Design – (Transformers, switchgear, MCC’s)

·        Low Voltage Design – (Transformers, MCC’s, Distribution Panels)

·        Relay protection for an electrical system. (Differential Protection, Feeder Protection, Motor Protection)

·        Working knowledge of PLC’s and DCS control systems

·        Instrumentation



·        Working with project management team in developing proposals which includes providing inputs on electrical scope, man-hours, and schedule

·        Leading a team of electrical engineers, designers, and technicians to execute single and multi-discipline projects

·        Organize and plan tasks accordingly to meet project schedules

·        Identify, analyze, and solve complex technical issues

·        Establish, promote, and assure quality deliverables performed by the electrical design team.

·        Establish client relationships and must be able to effectively assume a lead role at project meetings and communicate project and technical information.

·        Reviewing  all electrical deliverables (Single lines, three lines, schematics, connections, drawings, grounding, lightning protection, cable, conduit/cable tray drawings, I&C connections)

·        Writing and checking electrical specifications for medium and low voltage electrical equipment (Transformers, Switchgear, MCC’s, Etc.)

·        Read electrical drawings and develop single lines, three lined schematics

·        Review and approve vendor electrical packages

·        Preforming and checking power systems calculations such as arc flash, short circuit, protection and coordination, load flow, voltage drop, underground cable ampacity, battery sizing, UPS loading, etc.

·        Develop checking protective relay programs



·        Minimum 4-year Electrical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution

·        Sufficient knowledge of electrical STD’s – (NFPA 70 [NEC], NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584)

·        Working knowledge of PLC’s and DCS control systems


·        Familiarity with power generating utility standards and processes is preferred

·        Proficiency with power distribution system modeling software (ETAP or similar)



·        BS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET accredited school, MS in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is preferred

·        Experience Requirements:  10+ years preferred

·        License Requirements:  PE license required. The preferred candidate will have a PE license in at least one state (NC, SC, or TN) with the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states
