Designer II – Design Automation


Job Summary

This role will develop and maintain 3D and 2D automation models and drawings of engineering components.


Essential Job Functions

  • Implement engineering and manufacturing changes within the design automation application
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and data sheets
  • Create component models based on engineering data within the design automation application
  • Design and maintain design automation models based on specifications
  • Test and debug automation content outputs from the design automation application
  • Support and implement enhancements to the design automation application and supporting interfaces
  • Assist in developing design validation models and configurations for new product development projects
  • Support engineering and Customer Service Center in writing configuration rules related to design automation
  • Maintain a customer focus and provide support throughout the organization
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned


Work Experience Requirements

  • Four or more years of related experience within an R&D/product development or configuration environment
  • Four or more years of experience working with 3D modeling software (Solidworks preferred)
  • Experience using PLM/PDM software such as Windchill, SolidWorks PDM, ENOVIA Smarteam, etc…
  • Experience writing basic programming in BASIC, VB, Javascript, etc., preferred
  • Familiar with the engineering design/development process for a manufacturing environment
  • Intermediate understanding of bills of material, manufacturing and product structures
  • Demonstrated work experience within a process-oriented environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to achieve business objectives
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite


Education Requirements


Associate or technical degree minimum or equivalent education and work experience.

Applied science, drafting and design, engineering technology, design technology, etc.
