Accounts Payable Supervisor

This role provides guidance for the Accounts Payable function and supports associates with the goal of providing superior customer service to the organization, creating accurate financial products, and ensuring payments to vendors are made timely and accurately. Responsible for coordinating all J-Sox and other audit activity, and creating and maintaining reports to present to management.

Responsibilities:

•    Validates the daily work of Account Payable staff, promotes teamwork, improves processes and efficiencies and cross trains staff to ensure work can be completed timely during staff absences
•    Manages A/P vendors master file, check run cycle, verifies Oracle to Chase, oversees preparation of manual checks, and sets up ACH and wire transfers
•    Makes intercompany GLOPIP payments and submits with backup to Accounting Manager and ensures that transactions are cleared timely
•     Routinely examines and reviews A/P aging balances and past due invoices and proactively researches and authorizes payment as appropriate
•    Reconciles A/P sub ledger to GL monthly 
•    Negotiates and resolves A/P issues with other affiliates, coordinates and works with Procurement and Business Planning to ensure accurate month end AP accruals for parts, MIT, and MRO
•    Assists with bank reconciliations by presenting accruals, journal entries, AP account reconciliations and other month end reports to Accounting Manager for approval
•    Assists with J-Sox testing, as well as other internal and external audits
•    Ensures that sales and use tax payments are made and documented
•    Leads and participates in projects in order to improve efficiencies and establish best practices
•    Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 
•    Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
•    8 or more years of relevant experience 
•    knowledge of financial compliance laws and regulations
•    Mathematical skills with an ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages
•    Demonstrated competency in working with computer software and mainframe applications to manipulate, analyze and reconcile data
•     Working knowledge of Concur Expense Reporting, Oracle, JPMorgan Access Banking, GLOPIP, AS400/BPCS and Kronos
•    Excellent project management skills including the ability to define program, project or process
•    objectives, identify customers/stakeholders and their interests, plan steps, and to coordinate resources to accomplish goals and objectives in an effective and timely manner
•    Written and verbal communication skills, must be a skillful presenter that can interpret information based on a general knowledge of the organization, its products and procedures, and provide an independent explanation and discussion based on the technical or complex nature of the materials being discussed
•    Customer service skills with an ability to approach every business relationship partnership with an ability to independently evaluate and develop innovative solutions to complex situations, applying knowledge of specialty area and use of sound judgment
•    Negotiation skills, ability to resolve difficult or complicated situations that are often sensitive in nature
•    Recognizes and applies subtle cues in anticipating customers’ needs and potential next steps
•    Takes strong stand without indicating disrespect and seeks positive outcomes
•    People management skills
